Lesson #5: Horse Ground Training
Welcome To The ‘Groundwork Basics Of Horse Training’ Course Module!
Do you want to learn the groundwork basics of horse training? This module will get you started on the horse ground training basics that you have to know.
Next to effectively communicating with the horse, groundwork is the second most important horse training concept that you should learn. In fact, through groundwork, you will learn to better communicate with your horse, and therefore, the two concepts work hand-in-hand. You should spend a lot of time doing groundwork so you can get a good idea of the fundamental principles of natural horsemanship. Once you are fluent in horse-speak, you’ll need to master all the groundwork techniques perfectly.
First and foremost in this lesson, we’re going to talk about the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of entering the round pen. Remember positivity is key! You risk ruining your progress each time you enter the pen in a bad mood. Secondly, keep in mind that it is your horse’s job to have fun—and yours as well. You want to be playing with your horse but you are also working on yourself. It’s also your horse’s job to be a horse, remember never to scold your horse for being a horse, but to work with his natural instincts and behaviors.
After all, the round pen is not just some area where you mindlessly lunge your horse in circles. It is an important place to establish authority while improving your bond with the equine. In other words, you are establishing respect which results in good manners and effective communication. Sensitizing and desensitizing are done in the round pen, in addition to getting your horse to move and co-oporate. It is the perfect opportunity for the horseperson to introduce things that may be new to the equine… that’s why horse ground training is so great!
Movement is the key technique you will be learning how to teach your horse in the round pen. You’ll discover the essential communication skills to making this happen. It will be tough without these techniques implemented properly.
In addition to the framework discussed above, you’re going to get the 6 essential keys to groundwork basics. Horse training has never been so easy!
